Counseling, Dissertation Couching, & Educational Consulting

My goal is to help you!
The process of writing a dissertation is a difficult one; sometimes it is a lonely time; and it is always multifaceted task. My role as a consultant is to help you traverse through this journey, especially in the following areas:

-  Methodology:          What to do and how to do a qualitative study.
-  Research design:   What you will do and why, that is the research model.
-  Data processing:    How to process the information
                                               (collection, selection, and presentation).

I also specialize in the formulation of the qualitative research question. Please, check my YouTube channel for coaching videos. Here is the Link

I am a faculty, who has taught courses such the Advanced Qualitative Research course and the Introduction to Qualitative Research. Through this experience, along with the students whose dissertation I have chaired or advised, I have gathered some experience. My work in particular with  doctoral students has taught me that it is before and during the process of writing a dissertation,  writing is at the core, followed by second challenge how to do what is in their minds as project and a dream. A dissertation is a multi year project. One that should start before you enter a doctoral program, and once that leads you to graduate to being granted a doctoral degree.

Thus, the best lesson to share with you is this: a dissertation that is successfully finished will get you where you need to be. However, for that to happen, a good research project must be executed with accuracy, ,full commitment, and proper guidance. Otherwise, it can be the end of what never started, an academic career. Do not worry, like me, there are many resources and people who can help you. Let me be one of them.

Skill One
The research question and the qualitative research process

A research question must be a tight argument. One that must lead readers towards the belief that a qualitative study is the best answer. A research question must also address the four areas, known as the four existentials in qualitative research. They are spatiality, corporeality, temporality, and relationality. Also, the writing of a qualitative study must be according to specific a qualitative research approach. This results in text that is both evocative of a human lived experience to the readers and abides by a set of linguistic characteristics that aligned to  specific approach . If  artists sound like artist, and doctors sound like doctors, why should not qualitative researchers sound like them when talking or writing about their research?

Skill Two
Methodology, methods, techniques and skills

There is confusion among the many qualitative research terms, such as methodology, methods and research design. While they are often used interchangeably, they are not the same. Respectively, they refer to 1. What is the plant of action for your study? 2. What specifically will you do? 3. How does your research model explains you study and findings? But the beginning of study must always start in the curiosity about a human lived experience, and ultimately return to an experience that is evocative and makes sens to the reader. Along the way, a plethora of other questions do come up... Who are you going to choose as participants? Where will the study take place? How long will the study last?..

Skill Three
Data collection, data processing, and data presentation

There are so many decisions to make in a research study. Also, there are so many questions that appear when doing research (e.g., How to recruit participants? What criteria to use? How to best collect information? How to process and select information from the participants? Whether to use manual versus software programs to store and process the information? How to present the information collected? etc. ) At the end, what matters most is to offer a sound, plausible and logic descriptive explanation. Life and human experiences are more than one single description and/or one single interpretation.  All possible interpretation can be improved, changed or transformed, but this should not deter the quality of a study.
